WARNING: But still those who haven't read it, it might be a spoiler!
so i read it like months ago, and i couldn't came out of the trauma of witnessing something that should be a fiction with something unrealistic (where there were somethings i'll mention later) but no, what it all proved is that what this life actually is!!
Jay Gatsby is the protagonist who has been shown as really really RICH! (which he becomes by luck)
He does party all the time at his villa. wherever he lives everyone KNOWS him there and almost every other rich brat is a member of his celebration(for nothing as i remember).
but he has a dream. a dream of spending his life with his true love who is lady named Daisy. he has met her way before when he meets her again through his neighbor Nick Carraway, who is by the way the narrator of the story.
so,Jay has everything, except for the love.he is obsessed with Daisy. he always threw the lavish parties in the hope that someday she might come in the party. he also almost had her in the story but you know how it ended?? or i should say how Jay ended?? despite of being rich and popular who use to party everyday.....
he ended up so lonely,not even a single person from hundreds of people who used to come and enjoy his unnecessary parties came to his funeral. not even Daisy, not even wolfsheim whom jay used to consider as very close friend. but Nick who became fond of him gradually was there trying to convince people to come to the funeral.💔
why i was in the trauma is that how accurate that was! i don't know the purpose to write this novel but what i saw was something really moralistic that is true and that is ,it doesn't matter how many people he knew, how rich he was, how popular he was , he doesn't love himself. all he wanted to recreate the past.
There are many views on what Fitzgerald wanted to convey, However, all i saw, like Gatsby,how we all dream of having the person by side whole life who might have changed with the change in time and ignore the people who might really have cared for us like that person who did before or may not even try to see what we actually deserves!! holding on the past,always ruin lives despite of being who you are!!!!! I really felt bad how Gatsby ended like this. have you read it?
